May. May is not only a very nice and pleasant month , but also it´s connected with some important holidays and costumes. Bank holidays. We celebrate two bank holidays in May:. 1st May – Labour Day :. - it commemorates t he fight for the eight hour work day in Chicago, in 1886.

  2. May is not only a very nice and pleasant month, but also it´s connected with some important holidays and costumes.

  3. Bankholidays We celebrate two bank holidays in May:

  4. 1st May – Labour Day : - it commemorates the fight for the eight hour workday in Chicago, in 1886.

  5. - During communist period in the Czech Republic all people had to participate in big marching parades. It should have shown the collective enthusiasm and pride of communist party.

  6. 8th May: The end of the Second World War in Europe (1939 – 1945)

  7. Many Czech men fought against Nazis especially in Great Britain as pilots. There is held a special army parade in Prague on this day.

  9. The night from 30 April to 1 May is related to Celtic festival of Beltan and the German festival of Walpurgis Night.

  10. May is called “The Month of Love”. 1st May is very popular. People kiss their loves under the blooming cherry trees.

  11. People set up May poles – in past boys did it for their girls, nowadayswe can see themat village squares

  12. People are welcoming the spring and the new life
