The founding of Russia • Russia was founded by the Viking Rurik of Jutland who defeated the Slavs at Novgorod and became the ruler of northern Russia. • In 880 Oleg had conquered the Slavic ruled Kiev, and latter named it Rus Viking for oarsman.
Continuation • Prince Vladimir takes the throne and introduces Byzantine cultures to Russia in 978. • Yuri Dologruik the Kievan grand prince declares Suzdal his capital latter it would be called Moscow. • The reign of Ivan the 1 moved his palace from Vladimir to Moscow with the help of the Khans.
Ending • In 1339-1353 Ivan the seconds reign is weak and his son latter usurps power from his father. • The Ottoman Turks invade Constantinople and the byzantine empire crumbles and latter Ivan the terrible would become the first czar.
