History • Allow students to use a variety of skills to describe, explain and make judgments upon key events from the past that have influenced the way we will live today. • To allow students to form their own opinions based upon their possession of a vast array of investigative techniques and personal skills.
Geography and Global Perspectives • To describe and explain the processes that have created and influenced the human and physical world focusing on the relationship between both disciplines using numerous skills and forms of presentation. • To analyse the causes and consequences of key Global Issues, make predictions about the future and offer solutions to these problems, reflecting on one’s own personal perspective in comparison to others.
5 Year Outline • Year 7 and 8 – History and Geography • Year 9-11 History and Global Perspectives (GP) • Year 9 GP – prep year (skills needed for the course) • Year 9 may attempt 1 or 2 IGCSE History Units • Year 10-11 IGCSE History and GP
Global Perspectives • 3 Years • Year 9 – Transition Year • Two pieces of coursework (Individual and team project) • GP is basically a study of current Global Issues, assessing the causes and consequences and predicting the future using a vast skill set
