  5. Conjugaisons To conjugate a verb, you have to identify the stem of this verb. This is done by eliminating the ending of the verb in its infinitive or base form. For exemple: AIMER FINIR DESCENDRE AIM-ERFIN-IRDESCEND-RE

  6. Pronomspersonnelspersonal pronouns Each verb has a different derived form according to the personal pronoun that precedes it. For example: English: I am You are He is French: Je suisTues Il est

  8. -ER verbs So, you know now how to conjugate all regular –ER verbs, because they ALL follow the same pattern. What you need to remember is which ending corresponds with each personal pronoun: Je – eTu – es Il – e Elle – e On – e Nous – ons Vous – ezIls – entElles – ent

  9. Conjugaison And what is a personal pronoun? Personal pronouns are pronouns used as substitutes for proper or common nouns. All known human languages have personal pronouns.

Personal Pronouns • first-person singular (Je) • first-person plural (Nous) • first-person group (On) • second-person singular (Tu) • second-person plural (Vous) • third-person singular human or (in)animate male (Il) • third-person singular human or (in)animate female (Elle) • third-person singular (Vous) • third-person plural male (Ils) • third-person plural female (Elles)

  11. Personal Pronouns As you may notice, French has three different meanings for the English YOU: Tu (second-person singular INFORMAL) Vous (third-person singular FORMAL) Vous ( second-person plural )
