Section 2 Applications
PRODUCT APPLICATIONSMASTER TL-D Super 80 Interior and external lighting • Offices • Industry • Shops • Lighting of streets
PRODUCT APPLICATIONSMASTER TL-D Secura • Used where special protection against lamp breakage is needed • Food processing industry • Pharmaceutical industry • Semiconductor industry • Also: sports halls • Used where special protection against ultraviolet radiation is needed • Textile industry • Museums
PRODUCT APPLICATIONSMASTER TL-D Reflex Installations with a need for high light output, in particular in open fluorescent battens: • warehouses • production facilities • supermarkets
Section 3 Benefits
BENEFITS MASTER TL-D Super 80 • Philips is still the only manufacturer offering comprehensive recycling • Only Philips has a closed circuit, i.e. Philips reuses all materials for the production of new lamps • Philips MASTER TL-D Super 80 lamps still has the lowest mercury content on the market
BENEFITS MASTER TL-D Secura • Comprehensive protection against lamp breakage thanks to its protective coating • Double casings at the end caps which prevent lamp-end components from falling out • Virtually no decrease in light output • Outstanding reduction in ultraviolet radiation (-95%)
Section 4 Features
FEATURES MASTER TL-D Super 80 • Only fully recyclable fluorescent lamp in the world (with no loss of quality) • Even the mercury and fluorescent powder are separated and reused for the production of new lamps • Max. of 10% light-output loss over entire lifespan • 80% less mercury (3mg instead of 15mg) • Unique Physical Feature of the lamp : “Green Cap”
FEATURES MASTER TL-D Super 80 100 90 80 Lumen in % 70 60 50 0 4000 8000 12000 16000 20000 Lighting hours Almost constant light output during entire life span Max. decrease of 10%
FEATURES MASTER TL-D Secura • Excellent protection against lamp shattering (incl. end caps) • Virtually Complete ultraviolet radiation Block -95% ultraviolet-A -95% ultraviolet-B • Recyclable (just like MASTER TL-D Super 80) (Protective coating is removed beforehand) • Blue ring at one end of the lamp for easy identification • Simplified HACCP* certification HACCP: Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (an international process control system in the food-processing industry)
Glass Glass Fluorescent powder Fluorescent powder Reflecting coating FEATURES MASTER TL-D Reflex • Built-in reflector • 75% increase in light output in desired direction • Less lighting points required • Very effective in open fluorescent battens
FEATURES MASTER TL-D Reflex Same light output with less lamps, or increase in light output with same number of lamps Open fluorescent battens • On average 50% less lamps needed (compared to standard colour lamps) • 37% less lamps needed compared with normal MASTER TL-D Super 80 Lamps Luminaires with a reflector • On average 40-50% less lamps needed (compared to standard colour lamps) • 22% less lamps needed compared with normal MASTER TL-D Super 80 Lamps

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is a ‘warm start’?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is a ‘warm start’?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Description of a ‘warm start’ Definition: The controlled preheating of the electrode by means of a given current. I.e. the electrode heats up before the lamp lights up, causing less electrons to beam off the electrode The result: • Increase in lifespan of the lamp • Decrease in end-blackening of the lamp
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do short “on-” and “off”-switching cycles have an influence on the lifespan of a fluorescent lamp? YES! The lifespan information we provide is based on a standarised IEC switching cycle of 165 min. “on” and 15 min. “off”.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How much ultraviolet light does a TL lamp gives off? That depends on the colour of the light. In general it gives off some 65 mW/1000lm of ultraviolet-A and some 14 mW/1000lm of ultraviolet-B light.

Section 8 Instructions for use
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Ambient temperature • All fluorescent lamps with a diameter of 26mm achieve optimum light output at 25°C • Variations lead to a decrease in light efficiency • Universal Burining position (Unlike MASTER TL5)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USEMASTER TL-D Secura • Do not remove the protective covers or protective casings at the end of the lamp • Philips recommends that you use safety starters (SiS2/SiS3/SiS10). When using standard starters (S2/S10) the lamps should be replaced at the end of their useful life • Avoid using the lamps under conditions of extreme heat
