Current Status Fall 2011 • 5,161 warm bodies (down 2%) • 5,359 enrollments (down 2%) • 4,705 Classified Graduate Students (up 2%) • 3,477 (67%) full time, 1,684 (33%) part time • 1,626 Doctoral, 3,005 Masters • 1,176 International Students • 2,187 enrolled for 8 or more units • 1,323 Graduate Assistants (up 1%) • 35 with ‘full’ fellowships (that I know of) • 213 EWC fellows (up 32%) • Achievement Scholarships about $1,500,000 • ($1,024,000 from Graduate Division) • UHF Scholarships = $379,000 Graduate Assembly

Current Status • Apps up overall, 5490 applications for Fall 2011 • 4,975 complete • 2,774 admitted • 1,673 enrolled • Apps to Professional degrees up slightly • We continue to try to become more paperless • Accept electronic transcripts, usually via Interfolio • “Official” copies required once the student matriculates Graduate Assembly

Current Status • OVCAA provided $500K in tuition funds allocated to new TAs • Merit (Achievement) awards • Total value same as last year • UH Foundation Scholarships • Just a reminder that if you do not allocate the full distribution amount, it does not go back into the endowment Graduate Assembly
Current Status • Graduate Assistants • TA budget augmented by $500K • RA numbers increasing - due to success in obtaining extramural awards • No GAs on steps 1-2, 9-month • In order to get visas, international students need to be appointed at 9-month step 4 or 11-month step 5 (or higher) Graduate Assembly

Summary Stipend Information • 1307 Graduate Assistantships • $23,516,016 from all funding sources • $7,034,855 from G-funds • Tuition exemptions totaled ~$19M Graduate Assembly
Financial Aid Changes • New restrictions on subsidized Stafford Loans to grad students; please consult Financial Aid Office for details. • Increased scrutiny of courses, all must apply to the degree. • No financial aid for more than one repeat of an otherwise non-repeatable course.
