Uncle Tom’s Cabin • Subtitle changed from “The Man that was a Thing” to “Life Among the Lowly” • Published in March 20, 1852 • 5,000 copies were initially made but 300,000 copies were sold in the U.S. Alone • 2nd most bought book in the century (second to the Bible) • Abraham Lincoln invited Harriet to the White House were he said “"So this is the little lady who started this great war."
Importance • The book was a story that changed peoples opinions about slavery • Plays were based off the book, with black stereotypes that still remain today
