  5. If/then clauses in German • The wenn portion (condition) uses a “pure” Konjunktiv II form of the form. • So far we have only learned the Konjunktiv II forms of haben (hätte) and sein (wäre) • The dann portion (result) uses a würde + Infinitive construct…with the infinitive going at the end.

  6. Caveats • Never use würde + sein; use wäre instead. Wenn ich krank wäre, dann wäre sie sehr enttäuscht.

  8. Conjugations - würden ich/er/sie/es würde du würdest wir/sie/Sie würden ihr würdet

  9. wäre – would be ich/er/sie/es wäre du wärest wir/sie/Sie wären ihr wäret

  10. hätte – would have ich/er/sie/es hätte du hättest wir/sie/Sie hätten ihr hättet
