Current US Space Policy • Space shuttle designed in the 70’s, didn’t live up to its promise of regular spaceflight • President Bush scheduled it for retirement in 2010 • Constellation Program was poorly conceived and vastly underfunded • As a result, it was 5 years behind schedule 5 years after it started
