  2. £1M Active Challenge 2006 - 2009 • Key Performance Indicator - Participation • RAG’s • REDS – inactive (Ready) • AMBERS – active but would like to do more(Steady) • GREENS – very active (Go) • IT sign up to identify activity usage & data analysis • Bid = Increase participation by 35 staff year on year

  3. £1M Active Challenge 2006 - 2009 Key Performance Indicator – Participation Bid = 35 staff increase per annum Launch day = 120 staff sign up (May 2006) Approx. 200 staff participated – 30% of staff profile Ready Red = 38 Steady Amber = 121 Go Green = 38

  4. £1M Active Challenge 2006 - 2009 Key Performance Indicator - Participation • 60% + are female • Highest participation 46 – 55yr olds (42) • 35 – 45yr olds (39) • 24 – 34 yr olds (33) • Aged 56+ (25) • REDS – typically requested walking, dance & gym • AMBERS & GREENS – activity weekends, canoeing, horse riding, sailing & MTBiking

  5. £1M Active Challenge 2006 - 2009 Future Events • Summer term activities(Mar – Sept 2007) Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Horse riding, Walking • Charity event/s – Run for Life participants (June 2007) • Keswick Residential(Aug 2007) Open canoe, climb, walk, orienteering, MTB, Gorge scrambling & horse riding • Snowsports Holiday(Dec 2007)

  6. £1M Active Challenge 2006 - 2009 Key Performance Indicator- Sickness Absence • Improve sickness and absence rates • 2004 – 16.12 days per employee • 2005 – 8.79 days per employee • 2006 – 11.67 days per employee • 1013 sickness occurrences • 1.6% of payroll cost • 28% nervous illness type absence • Bid = Reduction by 0.5 days per year

  7. £1M Active Challenge 2006 - 2009 Sickness Absence Data - (May 06 – April 07) • 6166.5 total days lost • 98.5 days lost for Go (1.59% total absence) • 478.5 days lost for Steady (7.6% total absence) • 364 days lost for Ready (5.9% total absence) • Non-challenge staff – 84% • Average days lost = 8.38 per person

  8. £1M Challenge 2006 -2009 • Go Green staff – no long term absence (20+ days) • Go Green staff – no nervous illness absence • Active Go Green staff lost more days (58.5) than Non-Active staff (40) – only 1.6% of total absence • Usually uncertified or colds/flu • Non- Active Ready Red and Steady Amber staff = 635 days lost (10.3% of total absence) • Active Ready Red and Steady Amber staff= 209.5 days • Ready Reds absent with nervous illness & Steady Ambers absent due to back/spinal conditions & uncertified absence • Sport England feedback is very positive for our first year • A huge thank you to staff for their contribution to the Challenge
