Objective Give the power point presentation, the students will be required to gain information about the Civil Rights Movement of Birmingham and the American Peace Movement, take a quiz and pass it with 80% accuracy.

Civil Rights Movement • In 1963, Birmingham became a focus for the Civil Rights Movement • Dr. King was infamous for using children. Because of this, 500 youths were arrested and jailed.
Civil Rights Continued • The Civil Rights Movement was a very successful era during the Vietnam war. • Forms of protests consisted of sit-ins, bus boycotts, and marches that lasted for days at a time.

American Peace Movement • A peace movement is a social movement that seeks to achieve ideals such as ending of a particular war or all wars • Advocates of U.S. withdrawal were generally known as “doves,” and they called their opponents “hawks.”
Peace Movement Continued • In its later stages, the anti war movement greatly influenced U.S. Military Policy. • Affected some American laws and/or policies • The American Peace Movement started in the early 60’s
