Why It is Important? • Planting and then maintaining trees helps lower energy costs, reduce pollution, surroundings improves with green ambience and also increases the value of your property. • As green color is a soothing color, it helps you recover from strain quickly. • Trees enhance the beauty and making your surroundings beautiful is your duty as well.

  3. Benefits of Planting Trees • Source of Oxygen - The first and the foremost benefit of planting trees is that they inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen. And the need of oxygen in the environment is known to all.

  4. Keep the Climate Cool - Trees keep the environment cool. They help in beating the heat. Their cooling is so much so that it can reduce the requirement of air conditioners in the nearby places up to 50%.

  5. Control Air and Water Pollution - Trees do not only absorb harmful gases to control air pollution but also play an important role in controlling water pollution.

  6. Organizations Supporting Planting of Trees: There are a number of nonprofit organizations that have taken up the responsibility to build a cleaner and greener environment by planting trees. These organizations also discourage the cutting of trees. Some of the NGOs working in this direction in our country include DeraSachaSaudaSirsa, SankalpTaru Foundation, Youth Services for Peace etc.

It is time we realize how important these are for our environment as well as our social and economic well being. Each one of us must take it as a responsibility to plant trees whenever and wherever we can to make our planet a better place to live.
