Overall Objective To gain valuable experience in various areas of sport while providing dedicated hard work to the University Interscholastic League.
Internship Objectives • Update high school state records and all tournament results. • Learn how current issues and future sport changes are delegated through an official management meeting. • Develop strong people skills by commuting with coaches, spectators, and school faculty.
2007 Summer Events • Girl’s Softball State Tournament • Boy’s Baseball State Tournament • Texas Girl’s Coaches Association Summer Clinic • Annual UIL Legislative Council Golf Tournament • Eat once a week in downtown Austin with the Site Supervisor…he pays!
Summary of Daily Activities • Updating records in all high school sports. • Research previous results to create new records. • Setup for all UIL events such as state tournaments, meetings, and clinics. • Miscellaneous projects/assignments given by the UIL Athletic Coordinators. • Overall day-to-day operations.
Project Details • Event coordinating for the state softball and baseball tournaments. • Prepared team packets and contacted coahces with any details, information or tournament changes. • Setup the sports complex for each tournament. • Host tournament umpires. • Overall tournament operations/management.
Project Summary I was involved in the operations and coordinating of the high school state baseball and softball tournaments. I was given the responsibility of coordinating pre-game and post-game activities. Duties included coordinating team pictures and gathering team line-ups/previous accomplishments for pre-game announcments. Post-game, I setup for the medal ceremony and held the medals for the Athletic Coordinator to drape around the players.
Project Summary continued… When the tournament was completed, I updated the winners into the UIL archives, typed all information (records, MVPs, etc.) for future tournament programs.
