Job Shadows and Teacher Externships In FY08… 13,152 students job shadowed with 250 teachers participated in externships.
MA Work-Based Learning Plans In FY08… 10,791 - (74%) of all participating students had a Work-Based Learning Plan. No WBL Plan3,758 (26%) Had WBL Plan 10,971 (74%)
MA Work-Based Learning Plan Three-fold purpose: 1.Identifies ability level within skill areas (diagnostic) 2. Drives quality of student learning and productivity (goal-setting) 3. Assesses student progress (assessment)

Measurement of Skill Gains The Work-Based Learning Plan provides data that can be used to analyze skill gains made through jobs and internships.

Massachusetts Work-Based Learning PlanSkill Gain Study – 2007 Analysis The database “Skill Gain Report” screens select plans with a first and second review, and, for each skill, present the average rating at the first review, the average rating at the second review, the average change, and the number of plans included. The analysis can be done for all plans in the database or for any subset of plans.

Connections With Academics596/597 Work & Learning Programs FY08 data on the percentage of Work and Learning participants (57%) compared to non-participants (39%) in the Classes of 2003-2008 that earned their Competency Determination by the November 2007 retest.
Connections With Academics596/597 Work & Learning Programs FY08 demographic data of Work and Learning participants compared to non-participants in the Classes of 2003-2008 that earned their Competency Determination by the November 2007 retest.
Connections With Academics627/626 One Stop Career Center Programs Working in collaboration with community colleges, 14 One Stop Career Centers have brokered academic support, training and employment services for students exiting the 12th grade still in need of a Competency Determination. Outcome:1,639 students (52.8%) who have retested after exiting the 12th grade from the Classes of 2003 -2008 have received their Competency Determination by the November 2007 retest.
Population Served There are 351 secondary schools in the state and about 295,000 high school students. There are about 134,136 grade 11-12 students. Half of all high schools - 172 schools out of 351 - participated in work and learning internship programs in FY08. 15% of grade 11-12 students in participating schools were involved in work and learning internships.
Population Served In the 25 high schools with the highest levels of participation, over 35% of grade 11-12 students participate in work and learning internships Schools with over 35% of students participating in work and learning internships, FY08.
