  1. SALMONELLOSIS By Moiz

  2. SYMPTOMS OF SALMONELLISIS -Vomiting -Fever -Diarrhea -Abdominal Cramps -Nausea -Headache -Fatigue

  3. WHAT TYPE OF MICROBE CAUSES THE DISEASE? Salmonellosis is an infection caused by the bacteria Salmonella.

  4. ABOUT THE MICROBE -Salmonellosis is a food borne illness caused by the salmonella bacteria carried by some animals. -Salmonella can be transmitted from kitchen surfaces and can be in water, soil, animal feces, raw meats, and eggs. -Salmonella infections typically affect the intestines, causing vomiting, fever, and other symptoms. -These symptoms are usually resolved without medical treatment depending on its severity.

  5. HOW THE MICROBE IS TRANSMITTED There are many different sources of infection that can cause Salmonellosis, such as: -Unclean food, like in kitchens and restaurants -Excretions from either sick or infected organisms. -Polluted surface water and standing water, such as in shower hoses or unused water dispensers -Unhygienically thawed fowl (the meltwater contains many bacteria),

  6. POSSIBLE TREATMENTS OR PREVENTIONS FOR THE DISEASE The Salmonellosis disease has been found mostly in food(usually spoilt or unclean), So after some research, scientists have found a way to drastically reduce the number of people infected every year. In order to reduce the chance of food borne Salmonellosis, food must be cooked at 68–72°C. Liquids like soups or gravies must be boiled. It has also been concluded that freezing is not enough to kill Salmonella There has also been a discovery of a vaccine for salmonella which was found in the form of antibodies from children in Malawi.

  7. HOW WIDESPREAD AND COMMON IS THE DISEASE ? It has been estimated that around 150,000 people a year contract the disease, all around the world.

  8. WHAT AGE GROUP MOSTLY GETS AFFECTED BY THE DISEASE ? People who are infected by Salmonella are mainly between the ages of 0-4, although this is not always the case.
