Teen Years • Went to gifted math exchange program to the Soviet Union (lead by his father) • The trip awoken his childhood fear of authority • he remembers- first impulse on confronting Soviet oppression had been to throw pebbles at a police car • He took his father aside and thanked him for taking them out of Russia
