Finding Peace in the Midst of Conflict Luke 12:13-15
Conflict • We all have it from time to time • Where two or more are gathered there will eventually be conflict • Our own self-interests often prevent us from living peacefully with others
Luke 12:13-15 • Conflict over money • Selfish desires and self-interests ruin relationships • The blame game always makes conflict worse • Jesus’ solution to the conflict is to look inward • We must learn to break free from the habit of focusing on other people’s wrongs and to promote peace by focusing on our own contribution to conflict
John 21:18-22 • Peter’s competitive conflict with the Beloved Disciple • Jesus calls Peter to be a shepherd who reflects the life-giving nature of the Good Shepherd (John 10:11). He calls John to write a Gospel (John 21:24) • Critiquing other people’s ministry ensures that we aren’t doing our own ministry • Your God-given role is unique to you!
Application • Let us confess the sinful and selfish desires of our hearts and turn to the cross – where true peace, forgiveness, and grace is found • The first step to finding peace in the midst of your conflict is to look inward
