Lab Report Guide (pg. 11-13) • Lab Report (75% of lab grade) • Abstract (15%) • Brief Summary of your results • Data Sheet (10%) • Your raw data and calculated values • Discussion & Analysis (35%) • Describe and analyze your data, e.g. describe what the graphs tell you, measurements of physical constants, detailed calculations, … • Extension to new measurement • Conclusions (15%) • Summary and comparison of your findings • Mathematical application of key ideas Explicit lab report writing instructions at end of each experiment
Prelab ExperimentsLab Report Important Points! • Prelab Questionsto be completed on CHIP before the start of Lab session. • Lab Reportsdue a week after Lab in PHYS Rm 139 Drop-box before 4:30pm. Put in slot above your TA’s name. • Measurement Analysis (MA)88% on CHIP and 12% is a plot due at the beginning of E2 Lab Session.Point value is worth ~ one lab report!
Grading! • MA Exercise / 7 Experiments (See break-up! Pg. 5) • Lab worth 120 points (~20% of Course!) • 10% penalty/day for late Lab Reports • OneLab Report from each Group. Don’t forget TA’s name on Green Cover Sheet! • Lab every other week. Check schedule on back of manual !
