  2. Health and Social Care Act 2012 • Makes significant changes to how the health service is organised. • Puts GPs in control of local health budgets. • Gives new responsibilities to local authorities.

  3. How will the new NHS look?

  4. Coventry and Rugby CCG • Responsible for a population of over 450,000 people. • Partnership between Coventry and Rugby GP commissioners to form a new CCG, reflects our common interests in commissioning services from University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. • Committed to buying high quality services for people.

  5. Our Vision  ”Working together to make our local NHS better “ The overarching vision for the new CCG is that it will: • Improve the health and wellbeing of our community • Provide the best possible patient experience • Ensure choice, value for money and high quality care

  6. How are we going to involve local people? Shared decision making between the patient and the NHS: • Individual patient and their Choice in which hospitals patients attend • Involvement in the commissioning and re-design of services.

  7. How will the CCG do this is in a meaningful way?

  8. How can we involve the third sector? • The CCG is looking at innovative ways of supporting the local population to help people: - Live independently - Stay healthy and recover quickly from illness - Have as much control over their own lives as possible - Live with, and/or look after; their family - Participate as active and equal citizens - Have the best possible quality of life

  9. How can third sector partners work with us? • We know that voluntary and community groups are the experts when it comes to understanding what local people think of local health services and support available. • We know you are the experts when it comes to getting value for money.

  10. What have we done before? • We respect the experience you bring to the discussions: - Foleshill Women’s Training – maternity services, swine flu, end of life care - Coventry and Warwickshire Local Involvement Networks/ Healthwatch - Voluntary Action Coventry

  11. What next? • We need to find the best way to work together and have regular conversations. • Active citizen involvement is the way forward: – Share understandable information - Transform participation – new approaches - 2,600 Join the Conversation Champions in Coventry

  12. It’s your NHS • We need to have a more balanced relationship better public, patients and the NHS. • No decision about me without me; • Individual level • Practice level • CCG level • WE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE THIS!
