  1. The Truths of the Christian Faith

  2. The Truths of the Christian FaithJustification by Faith ‘It is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God- not by works so that no-one can boast.’ (Ephesians 2:8) ‘Therefore since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God.’ (Romans 5:1-11)

  3. Salvation by Faith This concept has been polluted by the false concept of salvation by human work/effort/merit by performing religious rituals through Church history and tradition. e.g. the concept of purgatory and indulgencies in the Roman Catholic Church.

  4. Salvation by Faith Martin Luther rediscovered this truth (unblocked this well) which led to the REFORMATION. The pure water of truth became available so that people could ‘drink life giving water.’

  5. Salvation through Christ aloneONE WAY → No other religion offers assurance of salvation, except through self-effort.

  6. Jesus said: ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.’ (John 14:6) The Philistine mentality says this is bigotry and presumption, but God declares us to be righteous through Christ(positional righteousness) and through the on-going sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

  7. ‘God sent his Son.. to redeem those under the law, that we might receive the full rights as sons.’ (Galatians 4:4-5) We know who we are in Christ (heirs) through the power of the Holy Spirit.

  8. The Truth of the Bible – not just another book or piece of literature.God is the author through the power of the Holy Spirit breathed into human words. ‘All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.’ (2 Timothy 3:16)

  9. Use the WORD - to proclaim scripture - to claim the promises Rediscovery of the Word, like finding the Book of the Law in the Temple. Josiah and the people repented. (2 Kings 22:1-20)

  10. Gifts of the Holy Spirit- need to be rediscovered and honoured Wisdom, Knowledge, Discernment of Spirits Prophecy, Speaking in Tongues and Interpretation Faith, Miracles, Healing

  11. Use the sword of the Spirit to discern truth from error. God offers divine counsel and wisdom ‘not the wisdom of this age or the rulers of this age… We speak God’s secret wisdom.( 1 Corinthians 2:6-7)

  12. ‘‘Stones in the Well’- Error in the ChurchLiberalism and Humanism: miracles of the virgin birth and resurrection are denied. limit the power of the Holy Spirit

  13. Sin is down played or excusede.g. adultery as ‘having an affair’ homosexuality as ‘a gay lifestyle’ Culture blurs the distinction between right and wrong. - Self-deception and lack of holiness. - God’s wrath is concealed: don’t talk of hell.

  14. God’s wrath is concealed: ‘Don’t talk of hell’.There is a shocking ignorance and indifference to the final judgement.

  15. Individualism- anything goes.Attitudes of non-confrontation Syncretism and Pluralism- deny the uniqueness and deity of Christ.

  16. The Bible is the plumb line of TRUTH We need to know God’s word and to be filled with the Holy Spirit
