President’s Message | May 27, 2010. VEQ’s Mandate • Mission Statement • The Voice of English-speaking Québec is an autonomous, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of a dynamic English-speaking community in the Greater Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions and to the promotion of its interests. • VEQ's goals: • to act as a hub of information for the English-speaking community; • to foster community cohesiveness; • to support the development of the community; • to promote the interests of the community.
President’s Message | May 27, 2010. Highlights - 2009-2010 • Promotion of Bilingualism and Newcomers' Integration Project 2010. • City of Quebec $100,000 • Citadel Foundation $10,000 • The Department of Canadian Heritage $38,650 • Newcomers' program • Finding Your Niche networking and information sessions, individual meetings, newcomer packages. • Two youth projects funded by Heritage Canada • Art class • Pen pal project

Highlights - 2009-2010 • VEQ continued to be a part of the Leadership Table. • VEQ met with various politicians to promote community interests • Mayor Régis Labeaume • Provincial Health and Social Services Minister Dr. Yves Bolduc. • VEQ hosted two very successful happy hours. • Holiday happy hour (+120 ppl and partners) • St. Patrick’s day happy hour (+80 ppl)

Highlights - 2009-2010 • VEQ continued to: • offer free transportation to community events • work with the local high schools to coordinate guest speakers • contribute to the Quebec City Chamber of Commerce's Multilingual Committee as well as many other community groups. • apply for various program and project funding • refresh the content and functionality of the website • build and maintain relationships with partners • advocate for our communities interests
