DAQ software makes bit-map from video signal controls everything calculates x, y, z Frame grabber DT3162 driver RASDIM server (containing Analysis240.dll library) PVSS client MySQL database (external data storage) Graphical presentation of the latest position (IN FUTURE) plots in a new PVSS panel
Rasdim server by Robert Hart • RASNIK multiplexing • Image acquisition directly from driver • Analysis in external dll library
PVSS client by Robert Hart Small changes are possible for LHCb OT to remove detectors we don’t have Main Console
PVSS client by Robert Hart (user layer) Sequence selection for choosing in which order channels are read out
PVSS client by Robert Hart (user layer) Channel parameters window – for choosing channel by multiplexers and for defining distances, CCD and mask sizes etc.

Lup Tup Tdown Ldown Temperature & Length changes Temperature measured on top and bottom of C-frame We observe thermal expansion of C-frame. Length of horizontal parts of C-frame
0 1 3 2 movements of C-frame corners against steel pillars during 60 hours • On upper lines 0 & 1 mainly thermal expansion in opposite directions • horizontal movement in the same direction on bottom lines 2 & 3.
Stability of the module – RASNIK results module connected by polystyrene bar to other modules module disconnected free module laser measurement • Movement in Z of middle of long module in respect of C-frame during 8 days. • movement <200 µm of free module, confirm laser measurements: see note “Module flatness”. • bigger movements with polystyrene bar (it was during laser measurement of C-frame flatness)
Lup Hside Hmiddle Z Ldown RASNIK measurements for period of laser measurement 9th April 1230-1830 Z of middle of 5m long module type F. On line 4 “Z” is perpendicular to optical axis, it is measured with precision of order of 1µm.
Lup Hside Hmiddle Z Ldown RASNIK measurements - weekend 30th April – 1st May Z of middle of 5m long module type F. On line 4 “Z” is perpendicular to optical axis, It is measured with precision of order of 1µm. No correlation between module bending and changes of length of C-frame sides “Hside”. Thus no correlation between module bending and temperature. Fast changes of C-frame height in the middle
Hside Hmiddle (y,z) RASNIK measurements - weekend 30th April – 1st May Z and Y of middle of 5m long module type F. 75 µm see on plots: 2 * (-y4) Hside 2 * 2.7m * |Al-module| * T 5.5m * |Al-Fe|* T’ y4 isup, so Al - module Al-Fe coefficient of linearexpansion of module is close to normalsteel. 150 µm
Range of RASNIK RASNIK measures better when full surface of CCD sees mask. minimal magnification on our lines 1/ 2.5 2.5 1 minimum: full segment 9*9 of 340µm squares (if 18*18 fields seen segment is seen) minimum 6.1mm perfect mask 18 mm seen by CCD 11.5 mm CCD 4.6 mm mask 20 mm “half” range 3mm 1mm in the shadow of mask mount (small distortion of the edge of image) on test lines magnification = 1 range +- 7mm easy in future on same lines magnification = 1/ 2.5 range +- 3mm This 3mm range should be used for measurement of movement of the C-frame. Holes in rails and pillars for mounting telescopes should be prepared with precision of about 1mm. Tuning sharpness – now more adjustments than needed. Movement of only CCD in Z is sufficient. Movement of lens has little use, so “telescopes” will be simplified.
Conclusions • Installation of 5 RASNIK lines completed successfully • Full surfaces of all CCDs see mask on all 4 lines. • Precision σx σy 1µm, σz 100µm • Telescopes will be simplified. • PVSS client is user friendly, should be adapted to OT needs • Test results show that 4 RASNIK lines monitor thermal expansion of C-frame with sufficient precision
