  5. The people you’ll meet… • From 12 - 80+ • Students must be at least 12 • Over 150 individuals • All fitness levels • Great people • Welcoming • Eager to share and help

  6. Cant wait to jump in? • Sign up for WTC Kayaking Training • www.wtckayak.com • May-July • No prior experience necessary • No need to purchase expensive equipment • Required safety session

  7. Training Classes • Rec/Touring Kayak • May 14 - Quick Start • May 21 - Essentials • Whitewater • June 4&5 - Essentials • June 25&26- River Kayaking • July 9&10 - Whitewater *These trainings are one of the most cost effective ways to get into the sport!

  8. Required Safety Session • Tuesday May 3 - 7 pm • Cab Calloway School for the Arts - Wilmington • Classroom Session • Safety • River Features & Signals • Self Rescue • Packing essentials • Pool Session • Swim length of pool • Exit from capsized boat • Bring bathing suit & towel

  9. Recreational & Touring Kayaking • Sit on Top • Recreational Kayaks • Wide and stable • 10’ - 16’ long • Good for flat water; clear weather • Entry level • Touring Kayaks • Longer and less wide • 15’ - 18’ long • Faster • Ability to carry gear

  13. Touring/Sea Trips • Most of the Rec trips, plus! • All tidal areas in DE, MD, VA, NJ and NY • Barnegat Bay, NJ • Assateague Island, MD • Janes Island, MD • Island Beach State Park and the Sedge Island, NJ

  20. Whitewater Training Details • All trainings on the Lehigh River - lodging & bbq provided • You must successfully complete each level to move on to the next training • # 1 - Essentials of River Kayaking • #2 - River Kayaking • #3 - Whitewater Kayaking

  21. Gear • Kayaks, paddles, PFDs and helmets are available for rental at a very reasonable rate • Students are responsible for transporting or coordinating the transportation of their equipment
