Ernest Weber • Psychophysics who computed Weber’s Law • For people to perceive a difference, the stimulus must differ by a constant proportion not a constant amount. • Weber’s Law- related to the just noticeable difference, which is the minimum difference in stimulation that a person can detect 50% of the time.
Gustav Fechner • Contributor to Weber’s Law • Some textbooks refer to this law as the Weber-Fechner Law
Eleanor Gibson • Researcher who used the visual cliff experiment to determine when human infants can perceive depth. • Found that an infant old enough to crawl would not crawl over the glass top table inferring they have developed depth perception.
