  3. Water Infrastructure Finance Authority Maintain and improve water quality in Arizona by providing financial assistance and technical assistance for basic water infrastructure. Design, Improvement, Construction, Acquisition of Drinking Water, Wastewater, Water Reclamation and other water quality projects

  4. Traditional Projects Rehab/replacement of water distribution lines Arsenic treatment systems Wastewater treatment plant upgrades Green Projects Energy audits Solar power for water and wastewater facilities Water reclamation Project Examples

  5. What makes WIFA a good funding option? • Clean Water and Drinking Water Revolving Funds • AAA credit rating = low-interest financial assistance • No application fees or closing costs • Grants and free Technical Assistance Programs

  6. Average Federal Capitalization Grant/Year • $4-6 million for Clean Water • $23 million for Drinking Water

  7. ARRA Financing • Allocated $82 million of federal Recovery Act money • Combined with our other funding sources - $183 million of projects on the ground • $24 million funded Green Projects

  8. Eligible applicants • Drinking Water • Public water systems owned by political subdivisions (cities, towns, districts and tribal entities) and private ACC-regulated systems • Clean Water • Restricted to various types of political subdivisions (cities, towns, districts), including tribal entities

  10. DW Technical Assistance Planning and Design Grants Design and Construction Loans FREE ADEQ Capacity Development Program Small drinking water systems (<10,000 people) receive: • System Evaluation • Operations and Maintenance Package

  11. DW Technical Assistance Planning and Design Grants Design and Construction Loans • Plan or design an infrastructure project • Funds typically used to hire engineer or other consultant • Maximum grant is $35,000 • Local match waived/reduced for water/energy efficiency projects
