  2. Purpose of the SQI Plan • To ensure the quality and effectiveness of treatment services within the ADAMH system of care; • Continuously evaluate the performance of the over 40 providers  in the ADAMH network.

  3. What does it do? • Improve quality • Promote accountability • Promote understanding • Improve outcomes • Identify areas of concern • Monitor performance • Feedback mechanism • Improve data collection efforts

  4. How it works Using an internal report, the SQI report, ADAMH is able to monitor agencies within the ADAMH network by measuring three indicators: 1.) Access 2.) Appropriateness 3.) Outcomes

  5. Average lag between assessment to first face-to-face The percentage of consumers receiving only one day of service The percentage of consumers receiving multiple crisis services The percentage of special population consumers (physically disabled) Average resources spent Access

  6. Are service recipients actively involved in decisions concerning treatment? Percentage of people connected to primary healthcare Do people discharged from inpatient services receive ambulatory services within seven days? Do people discharged from emergency care receive services in three days? Appropriateness

  7. Are consumers receiving services that promote recovery? Percentage of people who experience decreased psychological stress or symptoms (adults and children) Decrease in substance use/impairment Percentage of people who experience increased level of functioning Percentage of inpatient readmissions within 30 days of discharge Disposition at discharge Outcomes

Benefits ADAMH and Provider • Data-driven – not anecdotal • Measures are replicable for Providers • Early Warning System for those not meeting criteria • Standards can be set to evaluate Providers • Respectful/Productive Dialogue between ADAMH and Providers • Can be used as Monitoring Tool • Useful for other accreditation activities
