  3. How is TB spread ? TB germs can be spread when a person with TB disease: • Coughs • Sneezes • Shouts • Sings • Talks sending TB germs into the air.

  4. Transmission • Pulmonary tuberculosis is a disease of respiratory transmission, Patients with the active disease (bacilli) expel them into the air by: • coughing, • sneezing, • shouting, • or any other way that will expel bacilli into the air

  5. Challenges • High defaulter rate • >13% • Over evaluation • Low case detection • National: 12129 cases (57/100,000 pop) • Reg: BA-28/100,000, NR-12/100,000 pop) • Management of TB/HIV co-infection
