  2. Department of PathologyFaculty Affairs – Why Restructure? • Department has grown – we now have approximately 150 faculty members! • Appointments and promotions process has increased in complexity • Preparing appointment and promotion materials is too big a job for one person • ACAPT membership should rotate periodically and more fully represent faculty in AP, SP, and sponsored programs

  3. Faculty Affairs RestructureDepartment of Pathology New Model: Faculty Affairs Team: Appelman, Greenson, Lukacs Departmental ACAPT (Appelman, Greenson, Lukacs, Fullen, Lim, Duckett) – thanks to Varani, Lowe, Kunkel for many years of service Administrative Support: Sarah Dudley-Short

  4. Career Development and Mentoring Initiatives – Mentoring Committees • Instructional Track Assistant Professors (assisted by Cho, Lukacs, Duckett) – part of onboarding process for new faculty • Committee members will be selected in consultation with the junior faculty member • Committees will meet 1-2 times annually to: • offer guidance regarding laboratory focus and quality of science • provide critical review of project choices, direction and appropriateness of funding applications strategy • facilitate relevant collaborations • Committee Chair will provide a brief summary of recommendations from each meeting

  5. Career Development and Mentoring Initiatives – Annual CV Review • Assistant and Associate Professors • Intended to augment annual reviews with Division Directors • Each CV (submitted in uniform format each summer) will be reviewed by at least two departmental ACAPT members familiar with relevant promotion track • Brief feedback will be provided through a standard form

  6. Career Development and Mentoring Initiatives – Peer to Peer Advising • Junior faculty have expressed interest in career development/mentoring activities • Recently promoted Associate Professors may have useful advice for Assistant Professors • Raj Patel (Lauren Smith, Scott Owens) • Other ideas welcome!
