Introduction • Ma Shi Chau Special Area comprises 4 islands in Tolo Harbour, namely, Ma Shi Chau, Centre Island (also known as A Chau), Yeung Chau and an unnamed island where you can see the wordless records of how time has altered the face of the Mother Nature. The Ma Shi Chau Nature Trail aids your understanding for the geology of the area by providing on-site interpretation signs. Other than geological features, you may encounter fossils of ancient ammonites, bivalves, brachiopods, corals, moss animals, sea-lilies and plants.
Objectives • To train the skills of field observation • To study landforms associated with endogenetic processes • To study landforms associated with exogenetic processes • To study urban sprawl • To learn the skills of presentation • To enhance the generic skills of the students • To encourage students to apply IT skills in learning

(Cement Works) SITE 1 • The type of economic activity:industrial (secondary production) • The reason that it select this location: ◇The rent there is cheap. ◇Enough spaces ◇Far away from residentialarea (so that its pollution would not affected the residents)

SITE 4 (Tombolo) • These are the sandy deposits which connects Ma Shi Chau and Yim Tin Tsai. This is called a Tombolo and is formed when sediment deposits built up and join from one island to another.

SITE 5 • A fault line with rocks fractured and displaced. This is the result of tensional or compressional forces originating from tectonic movement. Faults affected the stability of large-scale construction. In fact, the effect of earthquake on an area with faults would be disastrous. Therefore, geologists and engineers keep the location of nuclear power plants and tunnels away from active faults.
SITE 5 • Endogenetic process • Slide apart • The rock was cut into 3 parts. The middle part moves downwards. And,it is not parallel with the other 2 parts.

Leung Ching Lik’s feeling • After this trip,I feel there are so many things in the Earth that I haven’t learned.I had a full-confidence for my knowledge of my living place but now has gone.The Earth is really big and must be known.So,from now,I decide I will work hard at my all Geography lessons.
During the trip,the weather suddenly got worse and worse and it rained.The floor was difficult for us to go on. But all 4A students had not given up and helped each other.I was seeing the most beautiful view of human at that time.They didn't defeat by hardship.I am trying to learn from them and keep this policy on my studying.
Wu Chi Kuan’s feeling • In this field trip , I think it was very interesting , and I learnt what is team work . In the trip we need to separate the different jobs, someone bring the camera, someone take the photo for the project , someone need to take down the notes for prepare the project.
Everyone need to do different things. The unforgettable thing is when we were hiking , it was raining. All of us wet after arrived the check point. After the trip , all of us were very dirty, but I felt very interesting and I learnt more about Geography.
Tam Chi Kit’s feeling • I feel this field trip is very interesting because when are walking , there is raining , very funny . But we are wet , and that make us walking difficultly . My shoes are very dirty , but according to that raining I learn how to help people , my classmates feel walk uncomfortable I will help them . This is the only I have learn in this field trip.
Or Mei Ching’s Feeling • After this geog field trip, I have a better understanding of geog. I can use concepts in the books to apply the real world. I also learn the cooperation of the team members. • I think the most difficult thing in this trip was when we walked along the mountain, it was being rain. The road was so wet for us to walk. Also, we were wet too. The sand • made my trousers and shoes very dirty. This made me very trouble. But this trip is very valuable for me.
Lau Yee Wa’s Feeling • I like this field trip very much.It was an interesting way for us to learn the knowledge of geography.Though this activity, we could learn what we should learn and we had a better understanding of them instead of just learn them from the text books.
Moreover, I think it was an exciting experience of mine.There was a heavy rain that day. We all found difficulties in walking on the hill roads, especially the girls. We had not any umbrellas.We all got wet and dirty. But we could learn the cooperation among thegroup members!
Wong Chun Yin’s Feeling • I like this field trip very much. It was so exciting. It suddenly rain when we were walking on the hill roads. We were wet,and it was difficult for us to walk. And,I learnt a lot from this trip. I learnt the knowledge of geography, the teamwork between our group members…I was so happy to have this field trip and I would like to have more field trip in the following days!
