  2. What is DECA? • Distributive Education Clubs ofAmerica • “DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.”

  3. Types of Competitions: • The Core Experience • Written Events • Roleplays • The DECA Exclusives • Video Events • Stock Market Game • Virtual Business Management • Corporate Partner Projects

  4. Professional Selling • 15-minute presentation + 5 minute Q&A • Marketing Cluster Exam (100 points) • Presentation created ahead of time • Ex: Powerpoint, Prezi, posterboard, etc. • Q&A is impromptu • Regular PSE: pitch a bulk tablet sale to a school district’s purchasing manager • Hospitality/Tourism PSE: pitch an employee training program to a city’s head of tourism.

  5. Team Decision Making 2-member team Requires good coordination and synergy 7 events spanning 4 core clusters 100-question multiple-choice exam 30-min prep, 10-min present, 5-min Q&A Case-study w/ 7 performance indicators More in-depth and specific explanations

Role Play Example Automotive Services Marketing Situation: The CEO of Nissan Motor Company wants an analysis from the marketing strategist about how the business can truly capitalize on the high demand for its new line of electric vehicles, while keeping the sale of conventional gasoline-powered cars in mind. Performance Indicators: Explain the impact of technology in marketing. Explain customer/client/business buying behavior Discuss actions employees can take to achieve the company’s desiredresults.
