  1. Team Teaching Section 6: Differentiated Split Class

  2. A class with more than one teacher is divided into smaller groups according to learning needs. Instructors provide their respective group with the instruction required to meet their learning needs. Section 6: Differentiated Split Class Differentiated Split Class Description

  3. A construction math class has learners who grasp adding fractions and those who need more practice. One teacher works with the students who understand adding fractions to expand their knowledge to subtraction of fractions. The other teacher reviews or re-teaches those students who require further instruction and practice with adding fractions. Section 6: Differentiated Split Class Differentiated Split Class Example

  4. With your teaching partner, brainstorm instructional activities specifically linked to the subject or program you plan to teach where you could use Differentiated Split Class. Discuss times and situations where you have used the Differentiated Split Class model in the classroom. Section 6: Differentiated Split Class Activity

  5. Look at the focus questions. (link) Then watch the video (Link to video) and note the characteristics of the Differentiated Split Class model. What did you see that indicated this was an example of the Differentiated Split Class model? Answer the focus questions together. Section 6: Differentiated Split Class Activity

  6. As a team, create a brief lesson activity using the Differentiated Split Class model that you could use in your program. Discuss how to assess the impact of the Differentiated Split Class model on students. Section 6: Differentiated Split Class Activity
