AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD • For the young, choice is very important, especially as to whether we will serve the Lord or not. There are always important choices to be made. • For the older, choice may not be as critical since many choices have already been made - but examine choices made to see if they were right and if so be encouraged to abide in the choices we have made
AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD • In Scripture many made the right choices, such as Joseph, Joshua, Elijah, Paul - but possibly none stand out more than Moses Heb 11:24-26
Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. (KJV)
AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD Hebrews 11:24-26 • MOSES AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD • Made definite choices which revealed him to be a man of decision • Decisions must be made • Between flesh and Spirit • Between God and Satan • Between God's people and Satan's people • Anyone not deciding for God, is "against" God Matt 12:30
AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD Hebrews 11:24-26 • SOME THINGS INVOLVED IN CHOOSING • Always two elements in every decision: Negative & Positive - refusal & acceptance • Right living does not consist solely of giving up evil things Lk 11:24-26; Rom 6:11-13,19
AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD Hebrews 11:24-26 • GREAT DECISIONS ARE ALWAYS COSTLY • Moses had much to give up - He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter 1Jhn 2:15-17 • Cost of his choice not measured only by what he gave up, but he chose suffering with the people of God 2Tim 3:12; 1Pet 2:19-21

AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD Hebrews 11:24-26 • WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME OF HIS DECISION? • Standing by Moses in Egypt, his choice may seem to be foolish and absurd, but standing by Christ on Mt of Transfiguration we know it was the only wise choice to make Matt 17:1-3
