HSBC • The Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank or HSBC for short, was completed in 1985 • Its cost was 670 million US dollars to build, with inflation, the cost was around 1.4 billion dollars • Used 30,000 tons of steel • Used 4,500 tons of aluminum
Characteristics • Natural sunlight is the main source of light in the building • A natural bank of mirrors reflects sunlight into the atrium and down into the plaza • The floor is made of light weight movable panels, under which is a system of power, telecommunication, and air-conditioning systems
