compressor Helium filled optional Helium filled laser beam dump hole in mirror for e-beam SSA and more equivalent plane imaging
Vacuum box for optics • Due to the uncertain tuning requirements of the optics we cannot rely on the placing of individual small vacuum cubes for locating optics. Enough flexibility can only be assured by use of a single large vacuum box enclosing all the mirrors, lenses, apertures, masks and axicon.
Optics locations • Axicon to plasma entrance 40-50 cm • Lens to axicon 40-60 cm (if needed)
Pulse distortion • Helium in transport line will not cause significant distortion • Transmitting optics cause spatial temporal distortion compressor window lens axicon • How to make all reflective?
Laser Parts List • 10 TW laser • single shot auto-correlator • online energy meter • spectrometer • Variable delay arm (upstairs) • equivalent plane profile monitor
Timing • How to monitor e-beam laser timing on sub psec scale? • variable delay arm (upstairs)
Laser E-beam Overlap • robust insertable targets • cameras
Optics and mounts • 3” mirrors + mounts • 3” mirror with hole + mount (x, y tip, tilt) • 3” lenses • axicon (x, y tip, tilt) • apertures and masks (x,y) • telescopic beam reducer • vacuum compatible motorized mounts
Axicon Length Control Apertures and stops can be used to control the ionization length Initially the center intensity drops as those rays that make lower z portion of focus are blocked. After about 60 cm, I/I0 is recovered Theory indicates that the center 3.5 mm spot contributes to 40 cm of focal length. The 1” diameter 0.5 deg was used
