Formation of the Regional Steering Committee The initial meeting for the formation of Regional Steering Committee was held on the 18 July 2012. Limpopo Regional Steering Committee was formed – 5th September 2012 Composition of the Committee: Dwa Regional Office- Directorates below: Institutional Establishment 2 Directors IE Limpopo/ NW 2 Deputy Directors Limpopo/ NW 2 Assistant Directors Limpopo Warms Legal Officer Regulation 1 Director Limpopo WSS 1 DirectorLimpopo
Formation of the Regional Steering Committee… Cont Corporate Services HR Labour Communication Finance
Formation of the Regional Steering Committee cont… External stakeholders- Mining, Industries, Agriculture, Salga, Water Boards, Premier’s office, NGOs, Municipalities, WUAs, Sanparks, Youth, Environmental Affairs, SANRAL , AGRISA, TAU and NAFU. Follow up meeting took place on the19th November 2012 , Business case, implementation plan and TORs were presented to stakeholders.
Implementation Plan and Need analysis Need analysis and Implementation Plan were done and submitted to HO. Both were presented to RSC on the 19th November 2012 DWA waiting for inputs from the RSC due by February 2013.
Catchment forums engagement on CMA establishment Limpopo WMA has the following Catchment forums: Mogalakwena, Sand, Nzhelele, Mokolo, Lephalale, Luvuvhu and Mutale. 9 Forums were established to supportthe public participation process in the Crocodile West Marico WMA. Several meetings were held with the catchment forums in Limpopo WMA, Levhuvu and Mutale Catchment, and the following were the outcomes: Information on the conclusion of realignment process was disseminated to all stakeholders
Catchment forums engagement on CMA establishment cont… Progress report presented Gazzeting of the 9 CMAs presented to the stakeholders Concerns were raised regarding the proposed WMA (name, demarcation of the area of operation and etc) The Limpopo Provincial government sent their memo with comments to DDG:R
Draft Business Case, TOR and its status Draft business case and Terms of Reference of RSC were presented to the RSC on the 19 November 2012 DWA waiting for inputs from the RSC due by February 2013.
Conclusion Continues stakeholders engagement and political buy in are crucial for CMA establishment.
