Saturday July 17, 2010 Calling all potential Junior Rangers ages 6-12 and their families! Enjoy a day in the park learning about wildlife of the North Dakota badlands. Junior Rangers must be accompanied by an adult. FREE event! Schedule of Events * All event times are MDT 9:00 AM Meet at the South Unit Visitor Center 9:15 AM The Prairie Web of Life Learn how the animals and plants that live in Theodore Roosevelt National Park are connected to one another while playing the “Web of Life” game. 9:45 AM Drive to Halliday Well trailhead 10:00 AM The Keystone Species Many animals in Theodore Roosevelt National Park depend on the prairie dog for survival. Discover what animals come to prairie dog towns to live or to have a snack. 11:00 AM Drive to the picnic area in the Cottonwood Campground 11:15 AM Many Hats of a Ranger Discover what different Rangers do in the park. Meet a resource management ranger and a member of the park’s Exotic Plant Management Team and learn how they preserve the prairie ecosystem of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. 11:45 AM Lunch Time Children must bring a lunch, it will NOT be provided. Signs of Wildlife will be on display for Junior Rangers to view during lunch. 12:30 PM Raging Raptors Explore the world of the predators of the sky as we learn about the birds of prey that can be found in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. 1:00 PM Who Pooped in the Park? Everything poops and so do all the animals in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Learn what you can discover from an animals’ scat. 1:30 PM Whooos There? What animals roam around Theodore Roosevelt National Park at night? Discover how these animals have adapted to a nocturnal lifestyle to survive. 2:30 PM Junior Ranger Graduation
