Sunday August 1, 2010 Calling all potential Junior Rangers ages 6-12 and their Families! Enjoy a day in the park learning about Theodore Roosevelt’s life in the North Dakota Badlands. FREE event Schedule of Events * All event times are MDT 9:00 AM Meet at the South Unit Picnic area in the Cottonwood Campground 9:15 AM TR Birding Hike Explore the Little Missouri River bottom as Theodore Roosevelt once did and see if you can spot the same birds as TR saw in the 1880s. 10:30 AM Hunting Trips of a Ranchman Learn about Roosevelt’s western hunting trips and what animals he encountered in the Badlands. 11:00 AM Many Hats of a Ranger Discover what different Rangers do in the park. Meet an interpretive Park Ranger and a cultural resource ranger and learn how they protect Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy. 11:30 AM Lunch Time Children must bring a lunch, it will NOT be provided Photographs of Theodore Roosevelt will be on display for Junior Rangers to view during lunch. 12:15 PM Drive to Peaceful Valley Ranch 12:30 PM Ranch Life in the Badlands Visit Peaceful Valley Ranch as we try to take a peek at what life was like at Theodore Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch. 1:15 PM Drive to Visitor Center 1:30 PM TR Country (Park Film 13 minutes) Hear the words of Theodore Roosevelt when he lived at the Maltese Cross and Elkhorn Ranch. 1:45 PM Adventure Writer Write a letter (as Roosevelt always did) to tell your friends about all of your adventures in the Badlands of North Dakota. 2:00 PM Cabin Tour 2:30 PM Junior Ranger Graduation
