Fluency in Information Technology By: AnushaHossain Making Information Available to the World Computational Thinking – Intro/Overview In Lab 1 and Lab 3 we learned how our own HTML coding in the labs can be made available to anyone in the world through the world wide web. At the right is my CSE3 Homepage I made on the very first day. It links all of my CSE Labs to the public. Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel In this lab we learned how to use Microsoft Excel for one of its most common uses – charting financial information. We created an annual budged, where we can monitor our spending and easily see how much we would have to spend each month. Computational thinking is thinking at multiple lengths of abstraction- solving problems, designing systems, and understanding human and machine intelligence. In this course, we learned to take the skills we learned and apply them to assignments- assignments that would very much come in handy in real life situations. Presentation of Information with MS PowerPoint Desktop Publishing In this Lab, we took information from Microsoft Excel and learned how to present it all through Microsoft PowerPoint. We also learned how to use animation and other tools. In our second lab, we learned Microsoft Word could do a lot more than just type up essays at home for class. We learned about Desktop Publishing, and using some of the more advanced features of Microsoft Word. We created our own documents, which discussed our majors. Using some of the advanced tools, such as text wrapping, inserting images, bulleted lists, and more – we created our own PDF documents. Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript Visual Programming with Alice Alice is a programming application (written in Javascript). Users can use Alice to create animations and tell stories. In this lab, we created a world with frogs. Unfortunately the frogs were being attacked by a hawk. But they jumped into the water to safety just in time! In this lab, we used Javascipt language in HTML to create this Java Juice Site. We learned how to create variables, how to use for loops, and how to create and call certain methods.
