  2. Why Use This Template? One of the key questions on many marketing leaders’ minds is: How can I make sure the rest of the company sees the impact of my team’s efforts on our bottom line? The first step should be to publish a thorough and quantitative monthly report on your marketing team's impact. It can be time-consuming and difficult to prove the downstream impact of your marketing efforts, but it’s worth pulling together the numbers to demonstrate the value of your work and identify areas where your team may need to invest more of its energies. The spreadsheet included alongside this slide deck template will help you collect the data you need to show how your marketing investments are generating revenue for your business. This deck will allow you to put together a comprehensive presentation for your team and your superiors that gives them the key takeaways as well as the specific numbers to back up those takeaways.

  3. How to Use This Template Inside this slide deck, you’ll find navy blue slides for your final presentation, and you’ll also find white slides with instructions, tips, and tricks. • Once you’re confident with your navy blue slides, you can delete the slides with white backgrounds. To do so, right-click on the relevant slide in the left-hand column and press ‘Delete Slide.’ • To fill in the Monthly Highlights slide, simply refer to the spreadsheet included with your download of this template. You’ll find the exact cell location included on the slide deck to show you where to look. • Italicized text and X’s indicate that you should replace the text with information specific to your presentation– for example, which month it is or the number of total leads you generated in the previous month. • To insert one of the charts from the spreadsheet, you can right-click on the chart in the spreadsheet and select ‘Save as Picture.’ Once you’ve saved the picture, you can upload it into this slide deck by selecting ‘Insert’ > ‘Picture’ in the top toolbar. • You can find more detailed instructions on saving pictures of charts here.

  4. Agenda • [Insert Month Here] Highlights • Monthly Trends • Marketing Reach • Website Visits • Leads Generated by Marketing • New Customers by Source • Customers Sourced by Marketing • Visit-to-Lead Performance • Lead-to-Customer Performance • Visit-to-Customer Performance • Top Recent Campaigns

  5. Monthly Highlights Your C-suite is busy, but that doesn’t mean they can ignore the results you’ve driven. You should strive to make it as easy as possible for your superiors to glean key insights from your detailed reports. While a marketing director or VP will be invested in your full report, you’ll want to provide a summary of the metrics to help: • Keep an easy reference for monthly performance. • Show off your team’s work to senior leaders who want to scan results quickly. The following slide will allow you to highlight key metrics. In light blue, you’ll find exactly where you can look in the associated spreadsheet for the number the slide is referencing.

  6. [Insert Month Here] Highlights • Total Marketing reach grew X% month over month(Cell O10, Reach tab) • Overall website visits up X% from [previous month](Cell O13, Visits tab) • Generated Xnew leads in [month], up X% from [previous month] (Cell M13 & O13 respectively, Leads Tab) • Marketing brought in X customers, up X% from [previous month] (Cell M13 & O13 respectively, Customers Tab) • Marketing generated X% of all customers closed (Cell M18, Customers Tab) [Note: Add additional metrics as needed.]

  7. Displaying Trends The highlights summary will have your audience excited to dive into the details, but it’s important to show your team the overall trends occurring in various parts of your marketing, too. Showing trends overtime will help you to: • Provide historical context into the growth and seasonal patterns affecting your numbers • Pinpoint which campaigns and channels are hurting or helping you • Monitor trends that can be used in future strategy meetings The following slides will highlight eight different metrics to include in your report. Again, you can right-click on any chart in the included spreadsheet and select ‘Save as Picture’ and then upload it into this slide deck by selecting ‘Insert’ > ‘Picture’ in the top toolbar. • You can find more detailed instructions on saving pictures of charts here.
