CONTROLLING CRIME • Control Crime by arresting, prosecuting, convicting, and punishing those who disobey the law • Must be carried out within the framework of the law
PREVENTING CRIME • Deterrent effect of Police, Courts, and Corrections. • Not only punishing those who violate the law but also provide examples to others who may commit wrongful acts.
