Understanding the Psychobiological Connect in Stress Responses

Explore the intricate workings of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in regulating the body's response to stress and its impact on immune function, mood, and more. Discover the influence of stress on pro-inflammatory cytokine responses in wound healing.

  2. Hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis and the sympathetic–adrenal–medullary (SAM) axis.

  3. Psychobiological connect The adrenal axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis) refers to a complex set of interactions and feedback loops between the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal glands. This system regulates the bodies response to stress, immune function, energy expenditure, mood, emotions & libido. It is therefore an incredibly important body system which can cause huge problems if it malfunctions

  4. Influence of stress on pro-inflammatory cytokine responses in wound healing, through dysregulation of cytokine secretion at the wound site and recruitment and activation of circulating peripheral-blood leukocytes that traffic to the wound site
