Called to Act with Justice. Acknowledgement of Country
E N D
Acknowledgement of Country Colleagues, we remember that we stand in footsteps that are millennia old. We acknowledge the traditional owners whose cultures and customs have nurtured, and continue to nurture this land, since men and women awoke from the great dreaming. As we begin this time of prayer, we pause and remember the Indigenous communities who lived in respectful harmony with the earth since time immemorial. We honour their presence, which resides still in the spirit of this land, its people, flora and fauna.
Leader: Today we remember the story of Mary MacKillop. R: Woman of faith, woman of wisdom Leader: We reflect on how Mary lived the challenge of the Gospel. R: Woman of integrity, woman of justice

Reader 2: And God said, “Who do you say that I am?” R: And God allowed our lives to reflect our response.
Reader 2: Mary MacKillop, ordinary woman, responded by living an extraordinary life. R: Inspired by Mary’s life, we recommit ourselves today to be people of faith and justice.
Leader: Let us pray – All: God of the prophets, you gifted Mary MacKillop with vision and courage. In her we see one who was not afraid to speak fearlessly your gospel of love. We pray for the sensitivity and imagination to read the signs of our times, and to articulate new possibilities for our own day. Like Mary, may we learn to confront all that is oppressive and unjust, and empower others towards true freedom and integrity. Spirit of wisdom, be with us as we face new horizons. Amen
Open My Eyes, Lord Open my eyes, Lord, help me to see your face; Open my eyes, Lord, help me to see. Open my ears, Lord, help me to hear your voice; Open my ears, Lord, help me to hear.
Open my heart Lord, help me to love like you; Open my heart Lord, help me to love. I live within you, deep in your heart O Love, I live within you, rest now in me.
Leader: May the vision we take with us today sear into our hearts a restlessness for justice and peace! All:AMEN! May God speak to us through the life of Mary MacKillop to energise our dreams for justice and empower us as we work to build the kingdom! All:AMEN! And may we be blessed by the presence of our God, whom we call Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier! All:AMEN!
Leader: Called to service, let us go into our day with open hearts and minds. All: And may we recognise the signs of our God travelling with us now and always!
