Linda Darling-Hammond Contributions: • Launched the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education and the School Redesign Network, both of which work to improve under-performing schools. • Served as the faculty sponsor for the Stanford Teacher Education Program • She is a former president of the American Educational Research Association and member of the National Academy of Education. • From 1994-2001, she served as executive director of the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future • 1996 report from the above panel contributed What Matters Most: Teaching for America's Future causing major policy changes across the United States to improve the quality of teacher education and teaching. • In 2006, this report was named one of the most influential affecting U.S. education and she was named one of the nation's ten most influential people affecting educational policy over the last decade.

Linda Darling-Hammond • Most of her teachings and research focuses on the quality of teaching, teacher education and school reforms for equality and equity in education across the United States. • She is also head of President Obama's transition team on education policy. • She has around 300 published works on teacher education and reform, many of which have won awards.
