Good manners are:- • Saying thank you • Saying please • Holding a door open for someone else • Not pushing in a queue • Eating with care with your mouth shut Bad Manners are:- • Grabbing things from people • Shouting and swearing • Breaking wind, burping and picking your nose in public • Scratching yourself with a fork then using it to stab a sausage from • someoneelse’s plate
Good manners in e-mails are:- • Starting with Dear, Hi or some such greeting • Saying thanks at the end of the e-mail • Keeping to the point – don’t rabbit on and on and on • Only sending to the people who are actually concerned with the topic. • Including a subject so the recipient knows what the e-mail s all about Bad Manners in e-mails are:- • TYPING IN CAPITALS – IT’S THE SAME AS SHOUTING • Forwarding to everybody • Sending chain e-mails • Sending any e-mail you wouldn’t want to receive yourself
The Law and your e-mail. • You are responsible for any e-mail sent from your account. • Your boss, (this school) has the right to monitor your e-mail usage. But you must be informed. • When you send e-mails using the school (or business) account the e-mails are actually the property of the school or business. Even if you use another account if it is sent from the school server! • An e-mail in which you might promise to do something in exchange for money etc. i.e. If you said that you’d walk someone’s dog for £5.00 next Sunday is regarded as a legal and binding contract. This is because it is written down and can be legally enforced. • You are legally bound by the network policy you have agreed to abide by.
