  1. Creating A Great Science-O-Rama Project Vinci Park School April 21, 2005 Open to all students in grades 3-5

  2. Getting Started • Get a display board and instructions from your teacher. Additional display boards can be requested through Mr. Curry, our school’s Science-O-Rama Coordinator in Room 31 or at 408-923-1800 ext 3831. • Choose an idea that you wish to explore as a project. With your parents, decide if you are doing either a • Display of something you learned • Demonstration or model (such as an exploding volcano) • Advanced Science Fair that uses the full Scientific Method • Do the Project and then the display board.

  3. Scientific Method • The Scientific Method is the traditional approach of investigating a scientific topic. It follows the pattern of: • Hypothesis: Guess what you think will happen, based on research of the problem. • Observations: Using your senses, what is happening? • Write Down what you see (Record Data). • Graph what happens (Make a graph or pictures) • Conclusions: Was your hypothesis Correct?   8. Timeline • March 17-24: Project Kickoff – Get Display Board • March 24-April 19: Work on Project at home • April 11: Science Fair Workshop for students and Parents 2:45-3:30 • April 20-21: Bring Projects –Set up in Multi-Purpose Room
