  3. Logitech Webcams • Brought in for European project involving Skype • Video effects noticed • Used for learner engagement during freshers’ week • Learners with learning difficulties responded particular well – story telling potential evident

  4. Video Effects – what they do Follow the user’s head with: • Facial accessories – hats, beards, etc, • Avatars – cars, flowers, people • Fun filters – magic mirrors • Video masks – the Mona Lisa - And you can now make your own masks!

  5. Advantages of Webcams with Video Effects • Cheap • Easy to learn • Easy to use • Quick to install • Portable – can be installed anywhere • Outputs (photo and video) to computer, e-mail or YouTube

Logitech Webcams - tips • Available from Amazon • Any Logitech webcam that has “video effects” • Better to buy HD for picture quality • Install software from Logitech website • Comes with some avatars – install more from website • Give yourself 15 mins to install and 5 mins to download extra effects

  8. More Tips • Use a reasonably fast computer • Remember to check volume for video • Watch out for people wandering behind the video subject - use a screen • Reset face-tracking if avatars are not working • Be careful what you put on YouTube!
