  2. Navigation Acts • 1650 • Restricted use of foreign shipping.

  3. Proclamation of !763 • 1763 • Established that the Appalachian mountains were the temporary western boundary. • Caused friction between Britain and colonists

  4. Stamp act • Placed taxes on all printed material • November 5, 1765 • Extremely angry and son of liberty tried to abolish act.

  5. Sons of Liberty • They protested the Stamp act. • Other cities organized Sons of Liberties group. • 1765

  6. Declaratory Acts • 1766 • Stated that that Parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for British colonies in all cases Colonists didn’t like it.

  7. Quartering Act • 1765 • Made sure soldiers had adequate housing and provisions. • The resented it!!!!!!

  8. Townshend Acts • 1767 • Tried to avoid some of the problems caused by the stamp act • They were Outraged!!!

  9. Boston Massacre • March 5 ,1770 • A Brawl between Colonists and Redcoats % people died. • Made colonists start stronger boycotts

  10. Tea Act/Tea Party • 1773 • Gave EIC a chance to get back in business and they could get there tea to the colonist without paying most of the taxes put on tea. • Thought that it was just to crush the colonist liberty

  11. Coercive Acts • 1774 • Punish the people of Massachusetts for their resistance. • Didn’t like them
