Scenario • A 15 year old boy with cerebral palsy wants to attend aerobics to strengthen his leg muscles but he lives in a rural location and the facilities are not available to him.
Implications for Participation in Physical Activity People with cerebral palsy have difficulty with balance, coordination, standing still and walking. Other possible difficulties include hearing impairment & breathing. With being rurally isolated, it may be hard to get the right facilities required for that certain activity as well as the equipment they may need.
Rules and Equipment Modifications One modification could be that the people with cerebral palsy that they could either having people by their side to help balance them out or some other sort of solid object. Another modification could be that the change of time it takes. Aerobics requires non stop physical activity for 15 minutes minimum where this could be reduced down to a minimum of 5 or 7 minutes, as their muscles aren’t fully developed.
