We create Hope and change the Culture Educational Need • Prevention is the key to reducing harm from prescription opioids and other drugs. • There are many harm-reduction strategies available, but it is not always easy to determine which ones have the potential to be successful. • Implementation of initiatives aimed to educate and enable communities to mitigate the impact of substance abuse – or to prevent substance abuse in the first place, thereby reducing its human and financial impacts – is critical.
We create Hope and change the Culture Learning Objectives Upon completion of this educational activity, you will be able to: • Identify specific prevention initiatives that may be implemented within your community. • Explain which stakeholders need to be active participants of a successful community coalition. • Articulate the value of a multi-pronged approach to address our country’s opioid crisis at a local level.
We create Hope and change the Culture Expected Outcome As a result of this educational intervention, participants will: • Be able to express the importance of having a strong prevention/education strategy – beginning at an early age and continuing through adulthood – as the focus of every harm-reduction strategy. • Be able to develop desired outcomes for community-based prevention/education initiatives.
