Regional Planning Team Process • Multi-sector teams • Brainstormed key issues in region and discussed how broadband could impact. • Selected top priority based on criteria: doable, fundable, measurable, & responsive to needs
Regional Plans • Region 1 -- North Idaho -- Conduct a case study of the Panhandle Area Council fiber infrastructure project with US Metronets in the cities of Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, Kootenai, and Ponderay. • Region 2 -- North Central Idaho -- Improve broadband access and adoption of it to support small manufacturer production and entrepreneurial businesses. • Region 3 – Southwestern Idaho -- Assess broadband needs in Canyon County and improve access and use. • Region 4 – South Central Idaho -- Increase capacity for economic development with an emphasis on rural areas. Bridge the connectivity gap between Twin Falls and Jerome. • Region 5 – Southeast Idaho -- TBD • Region 6 – East Central Idaho -- Enhance economic development and access to distance education especially in rural areas. Focus on Salmon and Rexburg as a place to start.
